Gulf Coast Gladiators Who’s Who in the Community: Councilman Cory Penn
The Gulf Coast Gladiators are proud to feature Councilman Cory Penn in our Who’s Who in the Community series, a spotlight on leaders who inspire change, create opportunity, and make Mobile stronger.
A lifelong Mobilian, Councilman Penn has devoted his life to service, with a special passion for improving opportunities and quality of life for local youth. A proud 2002 graduate of John L. LeFlore High School, where he served as Student Government Association president, Penn went on to attend Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
His commitment to young people led him into education, specializing in teaching special needs students at Chastang Middle School in Trinity Gardens. There, he co-founded the Chastang Elite Service Club, a mentorship program guiding young boys to discover their purpose and develop skills for success in life.
Penn also serves as an ordained minister at Right Way Christian Center Church, blending faith with action to help others reach their full potential. His leadership extends beyond the pulpit, as a graduate of the Leadership Mobile Class of 2021, a board member for Mobile Community Action Inc., and a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. In 2023, he was recognized as part of Mobile Bay’s 40 Under 40.
In his role as a City Councilman, Penn works tirelessly to champion economic development, public safety, and youth programs, ensuring Mobile’s neighborhoods thrive today and for generations to come.
Councilman Penn’s dedication is matched by his love for family. Alongside his wife, Ivonza, he is raising two children, daughter Kori Bell and son Caleb who inspire his work every day.
The Gulf Coast Gladiators salute Councilman Cory Penn for his unwavering commitment to our city and for setting an example of leadership, service, and community pride.
