Gulf Coast Gladiators Who’s Who in the Community: Nikeland Nichols
The Gulf Coast Gladiators are honored to feature Nikeland Nichols in their Who’s Who in the Community program, a spotlight on leaders whose impact reaches far beyond the community of Mobile.
Nikeland Nichols is a philanthropist, community leader, activist, mentor, and accomplished singer, songwriter, and producer. For decades, he has dedicated his life to serving young people, families, and underserved communities both locally and abroad. His gift of leadership showed early and carried through his years at Alabama A&M University, where he began shaping programs to uplift others.
He went on to serve as Director of the Center for Leadership’s Community Transformation Programs at the University of Mobile, overseeing initiatives like RamKids and the Music In Action Program, both designed to support students academically, spiritually, and emotionally while preparing them for college success. His passion for helping youth also led him to work as a counselor and case manager with Minority Behavioral Health in Ohio before returning home to Alabama, where he founded P.U.S.H. Inc. (Persevering Under Severe Hindrance), a national mentoring and leadership organization advocating for families and empowering young people to be leaders in their communities.
Nikeland’s influence extends across multiple boards. He became the first African American board president for Bethany Adoption Agency in Alabama, currently serves as board president for Prichard’s Youth Arts Council, and sits on the board of the South Alabama Economic Roundtable (SAER), advancing racial equity and support for underserved communities.
As an entertainer, Nikeland has coordinated major events such as the Festival of Hope, Festival of Champions, and the Restoring Hope Project after the 2010 Gulf oil crisis. He has shared the stage with Grammy Award winners, political leaders, and influential pastors worldwide. Alongside his wife, Ebony, he continues to inspire through music that uplifts God, family, and marriage.
Nikeland and Ebony reside in Mobile with their five children and three grandchildren, leaving a legacy rooted in faith, service, and hope.
The Gulf Coast Gladiators proudly salute Nikeland Nichols, a true leader, mentor, and champion for our community.
