Gulf Coast Gladiators: Community Spotlight – Nina Dortch

The Gulf Coast Gladiators proudly feature Nina Dortch , a dedicated leader whose work in human resources, workforce development, and community engagement continues to make a lasting impact.

A proud Atlanta native, Nina attended Atlanta Metropolitan College and Atlanta Christian College before building a career that spans more than 20 years in Human Resources, with a focus on Recruiting and Workforce Development. Known as an outstanding administrator and dedicated recruiter, she has helped countless people discover their potential and take steps toward brighter futures.

Since relocating to Mobile, Nina has been both a professional force and a passionate community advocate. She has shared her expertise in classrooms, teaching resume writing and interviewing skills, while also lending her voice to causes that expand access to workforce opportunities. She is an active member of SHRM and the Port City Chapter of Blacks in Government, where she serves as Co-Program Chair and Co-Public Relations Chair. In this role, she helps lead the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Celebration, a sold-out event honoring Dr. King’s legacy while uniting the community.

Nina’s service extends through her past work with Opportunity 4 Entertainers & Performing Arts, where she elevated young artists and leaders, and through her involvement with Opportunity Days School Tour, a mental health, community resource, and career fair for students. She also co-organized Project Mobile Connect, ensuring Mobile County Public School families experiencing homelessness had access to vital resources.

Her love for music and meaningful conversation led her to launch the Opportunities 4 Community Engagement Podcast, a platform for dialogue with community leaders on pressing issues. She has interviewed notable figures such as State Representative Barbara Drummond and contributed to the MOB Music Festival, introducing the event’s first-ever community engagement panel to address topics like education, workforce development, health, and youth violence.

Above all, Nina is most proud of her role as a mother to two daughters, who inspire her to lead with resilience, authenticity, and love. Alongside her supportive boyfriend, she enjoys traveling, exploring Mobile’s culture and history, and celebrating the city she now calls home, while never losing her Atlanta roots as a Georgia Bulldog on Saturdays and an Atlanta Falcon on Sundays.

Today, Nina Dortch stands as a trusted recruiter, community leader, and advocate for youth, families, and artists. Her work continues to uplift, inspire, and spark change across Mobile and beyond.
