Celebrating the Return of Coach Alfred Perkins to the Gulf Coast Gladiators

The Gulf Coast Gladiators are proud to welcome back Alfred Perkins as our Head Coach. A business owner, minister at Canaan Baptist Church, and a true pillar of the community, Alfred’s return marks a new chapter of leadership and inspiration for our team.

Coach Perkins’ basketball journey began in 1976 with the 988th and 139th United States Army Military Police Company, where he coached his first championship team. As a player, he excelled at Toulminville High School and Bishop State Community College before moving into coaching, a path that has spanned more than 30 years across high school, college, semi-pro, and professional levels.

From guiding LeFlore High School’s freshman, junior varsity, and varsity boys’ teams, to leading women’s and men’s semi-pro franchises in the ABA and WBCBL, Coach Perkins has a proven record of building winning programs. His career highlights include national appearances, final four runs, and championships that have placed him among the most respected coaches in the region.

Beyond the wins, his greatest legacy is helping young athletes earn college opportunities, shaping futures both on and off the court. As founder of the Mobile Hoopers, Inc., he created a platform for youth athletes to shine in AAU, YBOA, and state competitions.

A graduate of Bishop State Community College and Toulminville High School, Coach Perkins continues to serve his community with the same dedication he brings to the game. With his wife Emma, their six children, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, he is a family man whose faith and leadership inspire all who know him.

The Gladiators are excited to celebrate Coach Perkins return and look forward to the vision, discipline, and heart he will bring to the court once again.
