Gulf Coast Gladiators Who’s Who Spotlight: Candace Houston
The Gulf Coast Gladiators proudly recognize Candace Houston, a true inspiration and pillar of the Mobile community.
A Mobile native, Candace began her media journey in 1990 as a receptionist and rose through the ranks to become an advertising sales executive and later a sales manager. Her drive and vision led her to launch Nspire U! Events, Entertainment, and Marketing Firm in 2009. By 2017, she turned that dream into a full-time venture, managing festivals, expos, business functions, and major community events while offering top-tier marketing, PR, and media services.
In 2021, Candace and her daughter, Amberly “Bambie” Harris, made history by launching Nspire U! On Air, the first African American female-owned internet radio station on the Gulf Coast. They continued their trailblazing journey with the launch of Nspire U Praise in 2025, a 24/7 gospel station, and the Women R Nonprofit Organization, dedicated to empowering women and young girls through education, advocacy, and opportunity.
Candace’s commitment to uplifting others earned her the Key to the City of Mobile in 2023 for her lasting impact on local communities.
Guided by her favorite scripture, Proverbs 4:23, “Guard your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” , Candace continues to pour positivity, purpose, and empowerment into everything she touches.
